What are Inks in Lorcana?!

The release date for Disney's brand new TCG Lorcana is fast approaching and we are starting to get new information about the mechanics of the game! It looks like Lorcana will change up the way TCG's can be played and will be something for players of all ages to enjoy! We are super excited to get our hands on the first chapter wave of Lorcana sets (and even more excited to fanboy over all our favourite Disney characters!).

Lorcana changes up the way we are going to see Disney characters with colourful re imaginings, giving traditionally good characters a darker more epic twist! The First Chapter of Lorcana will include fan favourites such as Elsa, Captain Hook, Robin Hood, Stitch, Cruella De Vil and Malificent (dragon form). The new game will also introduce a brand new mechanic in the form of Inks! Inks are a new way to discover imaginings of your favourite Disney characters, but might be off putting to new players who have come from different style TCG's. Keep reading to get the full breakdown of what inks are and how they work!

What are Ink's?

Inks are Illumineers way of summoning glimmers of Disney characters! No ink is inherently good or evil as either hero or villain can be found in any ink set. Learn more about the types of Inks and what they do in our breakdown:

Amber

Amber ink's are affected by what other cards you have at your disposal. This may allow you to have some very creative and strategic gameplay! Amber glimmers are purposeful. Patient and dedicated, they’re able to pursue causes and ambitions with single-minded persistence. They often work within communities, either from above as a leader or from within as a healer, bodyguard, or just a loyal follower.

Amethyst

You'll want to use the Amethyst Ink alongside enchantments to gain an advantage to sway the victory in the game! Amethyst glimmers are wondrous, for this is the otherworldly ink of sorcerers, sages, animated objects, and other glimmers who use their special powers to achieve their aims. They are incredibly powerful when they have access to their amazing abilities but may land in trouble if they’re stripped of those or tap into power they can’t control.

Emerald

Emerald is for all those wanting to be bad. And we mean REALLY bad! Emerald appears to be a villain orientated Ink including some sneaky moves! Emerald glimmers are flexible. Gifted with the ability to adapt to changing circumstances, they are never caught off guard. Quick-thinking but not necessarily book-smart, they navigate their environment—whether physical or social, natural or artificial—with ease.

Ruby

Similar to Yu-Gi-Oh! mechanics, Ruby is great at banishing cards from the table! Ruby glimmers are daring. They use their speed and bravery to defy the odds. They are often warriors, explorers, and daredevils.

Sapphire

We also have tool orientated Inks for Lorcana in the form of Sapphire! Sapphire glimmers are intellectual. Intelligent and creative, they excel at strategy, invention, and the arts. They can almost always know something, plan something, or invent something that will win the day.

Steel

Steel Inks, as the name might suggest, are used for brute force characters liken to rampage! Steel glimmers are strong. Large and imposing, armored, or just plain powerful, Steel glimmers can apply huge amounts of brute force to get the job done
