Disney's Lorcana - Ursula's Return - All Spoilers and Card List

Lorcana April 09, 2024 - 12:00 PM 0 Comments 68 Media Matt Farmer

We are more than excited for the next epic set from Disney's Lorcana  Ursula's Return! This set promises a lot and we have a feeling that it's going to be the best set yet! With an all-new format and new characters joining the fray, we're sure that the fourth set for this spectacular TCG is going to be absolutely epic! Keep reading to find out all about the brand new products as well as those all-important card reveals and an extra special discount on your Ursula's Return pre-orders!

New Rules and Mechanics

Ursula's Return will be introducing a powerful new mechanic in the form of "Shift!" This keyword allows cards to be played by discarding a specific card type rather than pay ink! So far it looks as though only Floodborn characters have this ability, but who knows what the future may hold!?

Each Ink colour seems to have it's own unique Shift cost, with card types that feature heavily in an Ink's playstyle. Amber requires a Song card, Sapphire requires an Item card and so on. We think this matchup of Ink and Card type will definitely influence how you build your deck going forward. Certain cards that may not have seen play before might see more use if they can be discarded as a Shift cost.

Shift has the potential to really speed up play, especially during the earlier phases of the game and sets a powerful precedent for future expansions! This could be considered an element of power creep as Lorcana moves into it's fourth set.

Alongside the debut of the Shift mechanic, we will also see a selection of animal companions appearing in Lorcana for the first time! We will see an Emerald Cri-Kee, an Emerald Jaq , a Ruby Khan, a Steel Rajah, and an Amethyst Tick-Tock!

 Products

As with all Lorcana releases you can expect the bulk of the available products to be the tried and true booster packs and booster boxes! Each booster box will contain 24 packs and each pack will contain a total of 12 cards. Keep your eyes peeled for those elusive Enchanted rarity cards, which typically appear in 1 out of 4 booster boxes. Make sure to watch our YouTube unboxings, to see which staff member has pulled the most Enchanted Rares!

Each set so far has included starter decks to help newcomers learn the game, and Ursula's Return is no different. The first deck focuses on Anna & Hercules, whilst the second features Mirabel and Bruno! That's right! Encanto is finally coming to Lorcana!

The Illumineer's Trove would be our recommendation for any budding collectors out there! It has a similar function to ETBs from Pokemon and Bundles from Magic the Gathering! It contains a good amount of stuff to get you started including dice, card dividers, counters, a storage box and 8 booster packs.

Finally, we have the brand-new Illumineer's Quest - Deep Trouble! This is possibly the most exciting product we've seen since the release of the very first set, The First Chapter! The box introduces a brand new way to play, with up to 4 players joining in on the fun! The new game-mode, or format, pits the players against the nefarious Ursula as she tries to obtain Triton's Trident and rule the seven seas! The cooperative style play looks as though it will be perfect for families and younger players, so we definitely recommend.

You can check out all of the Ursula's Return products to the right of this blog post! Make sure to be quick with your pre-orders to avoid disappointment on release. You can also knock 5% off your pre-order when you use the code SEAWITCH at the checkout!

Card Reveals

Not many cards have been revealed from the new set just yet, but those that have are very exciting!

First up, we will be seeing some fan-favourite cards reprinted with a special card frame treatment! These reprints, such as Yen Sid and the Playful Sorcerer Mickey, will have a unique tentacle design on the bottom of their card! This represents the machinations of the villainous Ursula, herself!

If you don't know yet, the characters from Encanto will be appearing in Lorcana for the very first time starting with this set! We're surprised that it has taken this long for them to appear, given the massive popularity of Encanto and characters such as Bruno, Luisa and Mirabel!

All of the spoilers for this set can be seen down below in the image gallery! Make sure to check back regularly as we'll be adding more card spoilers as they are revealed!
