We're ecstatic for the new set of Yu-Gi-Oh! Blazing Vortex has just been announced for a February 2021 release date!
As we are aware, the latest set in the series, Phantom Rage, added 17 world premiere cards. However, Blazing Vortex will add 19 world premiere cards to the set, adding a new combat crazed theme that also ramps things up and turns the rules of the game we all know on their head! These include a new continuous trap which will force duelists taking turns playing their monsters effects, a new addition like this is bound to keep the duelists interested!
Blazing Vortex also adds a new world premiere card that reinvents another classic spell card, we can only speculate for now as to what this spell could be, although we would love to see the return of Graceful Charity, Gold Sarcophagus or Swords of Revealing Light. That's not all this set has promised to add new card for themes introduced in 2010, 2012, 2016, 2017, and 2019.
It appears the main focus of this set is to add support for Armed Dragon, LV, Fabled, Dream Mirror, Metalfoes, Ojama and Windwitch. We are very excited to see where the set will go especially since we haven't seen the Armed Dragon properly since the GX series. On top of all of this, we are going to be seeing some cards that power up some of the themes that inspired Secret Slayers, Rise of the Duelist, Phantom Rage, and Genesis Impact.
To top all of this off fans are absolutely ecstatic to learn that "Crossout Designator" is being added in Blazing Vortex! This card is already available from previous sets in Japan, however, this is the first time it will be printed in English. Its ability is as follows "Declare 1 card name; banish 1 card with that name from your Deck, and if you do, until the end of this turn, its effects are negated, as well as the activated effects and effects on the field of cards with the same original name. You can only activate 1 "Crossout Designator" per turn." As you can see this will allow for some dangerous and game-changing plays, we can't wait to see how this set is going to shake up the competition"
