A spiritual successor of Nioh is set to crash its way into the video game scene on March 3rd! This souls-like game offers new challenges with unique mechanics that sets it apart from the crowd. Based in 2nd Century China and loosely based on the novel "Romance of the Three Kingdoms" by Luo Guanzhong, this game is a promising entry into your library. 2. The Morale System
With Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty, levelling up looks a little different. Instead of your traditional XP = Level Up system, this game offers a Morale System. The Morale System makes gameplay much more interesting, and pushes you out of your comfort zone to grab yourself better gear. Defeating enemies of high morale will grant greater rewards, but be cautious - if you die, your morale rank will decrease. This forces you to decide whether its really worth engaging in that mini boss. The Morale System also combats the bypassing of smaller enemies that players often find themselves doing in other souls-like games. Because each enemy has something to offer, you'll want to fight a variety of monsters across the map!
3. No stamina? No problem!
We've all gotten frustrated by vast maps that offer no fast travel, and your character just doesn't go fast enough for your liking. Well, that won't be an issue in Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty! This game scraps the entire stamina system, allowing you to explore each crack and crevice of this beautifully designed landscape with no issues. The developers went to a great effort to create this game, and they want you to appreciate every aspect of it. The use of the double jump feature was kept in mind when building structures, giving you a ton of verticality and versitility when traversing 2nd Century China. Not only that, it means that your battles with enemies will be more dynamic, more energetic, and more fun! You won't be lagging when dodging attacks, and you can attack from all different angles with next to no forfeit!
4. The Unique Weapons of Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty
Weapons are always an important aspect of every RPG. Whether it's guns, glaives or grenades - these weapons command the gameplay. In Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty, there are a variety of unique weapons at your disposal. Choose from a Straight Sabre, Glaive, Dual Swords and more! Each weapon you can choose offers unique "Martial Arts" - super abilities that consume from your Spirit Gauge. This means that every weapon has meaning. If swinging swords doesn't hit the mark, then be sure to grind that Morale Rank up to unlock the use of powerful Wizardry Spells! These spells draw upon the power of the Five Phases, which you choose at the start of the game.
5. Call upon the power of Divine Beasts!
You heard me. Five all-powerful beasts pulled straight from Chinese mythology. You'll choose from the aid of the Qílín (the Chimera), Báihǔ (the White Tiger), Qīnglóng (the Azure Dragon), Zhūquè (the Vermilion Bird) and Xuánwǔ (the Black Tortoise) to fight alongside you. Each of these creatures have a unique trait that will aid you during dire situations, or help you get the upper hand during a tough fight!
