How do you fancy becoming the CEO of one of the largest smartphone-producing companies in the time when smartphones were only beginning to conquer the world? Well, now you can in Smartphone inc. Research technologies, develop your factory, build your worldwide office network, and outprice your competitors.

Smartphone inc. is an economic simulation game that takes place over 5 rounds. Players must program their decisions about price, production, research, and expansion in order to earn more profits and become the most successful company in the world by earning more money than rivals. Perhaps one of the main highlights of this game is the unique mechanic of planning which combines patching, bidding and action selection mechanics. Each of the 5 rounds consists of 8 different phases; planning, pricing, production, development, research, expansion, selling, and profits.

Planning phase

During this phase all players simultaneously make decisions for the next financial year, the plan you come up with in this phase will determine all of the other phases.

Pricing phase

Next is the pricing phase in which players must change their price according to their decisions. A lower price will sell more smartphones, however, a higher price will produce more money.

Production phase

In this phase, all players will produce smartphones based on their plan.

Development phase

Players will take development tiles in order to expand their plan possibilities in further rounds.

Research phase

Players can use their research points in order to discover new technologies. Each technology will help to sell smartphones as well as giving the player a special power.

Expansion phase

You can use your expansion points to open offices in neighbour regions. This will allow you to sell in different regions and develop their network of offices to more regions in further turns.

Sale phase

In the sale phase, players can sell produced phones in regions where you have offices. However, there is limited space in regions and if your prices are too high then rivals can block you from selling.

Profit phase

Finally, at long last, you can get the income from your smartphones. In addition, the player who sold more phones in the region gets profits for controlling the accessory market.

The game finishes after 5 rounds and the richest player is crowned the King of the smartphone market.
