Ginkgopolis is a strategy board game set in the future year of 2212. In this future, humanity must develop cities that respect the delicate balance of consumption and production. In this difficult time, land is scarce and builders must look upwards for expansion. At its heart, Ginkgopolis is a strategy game which focuses on the playing of cards and the placing of tiles. There are three different colours of tile: Yellow, Red and Blue. Yellow provides victory points, Red provides resources and Blue provides new city tiles. Some tiles start already in play and have symbols that show where new tiles can be played. Ultimately the aim of the game is to collect resources and victory points to emerge victorious.

Each copy of the game includes the following game pieces:

  • 20 Yellow tiles
  • 20 Red tiles
  • 20 Blue tiles
  • 12 Urbanization cards from A to L
  • 60 Building cards, 20 in each of the 3 colours.
  • 27 Character cards
  • 125 resources in the player colours (25 per colour).
  • 10 New Hand tokens
  • 12 Urbanization tokens from A to L
  • 5 screens in the player colours
  • Tokens for 1, 3, 5, and 10 success points
