Redfall is an upcoming open-world FPS headed by the team that brought us Prey and Dishonored. Set in the town of Redfall, Massachusetts, you can immerse yourself in a deep story campaign about blood-thirsty vampires vying for control! But why should you pick up this game? Here's 5 reasons:
1. Immersive story, impressive gameplay!
Everybody loves vampires, and this game is jam packed with lore! The story follows the protagonist and a handful of survivors as they fight against the creatures threatining to bleed the town dry. It's open-world, it's pretty dark, and it boasts single-player and multiplayer! You can venture into the darkness alone, or team up with your friends to watch each other's backs as you take on the deadly creatures of the night.
2. Gorgeously Detailed Environment!
What was once a bustling town, now overrun with the supernatural, this world is well-thought out and lovingly crafted. In this game, the environment is as important as the characters. Every inch of the world is packed with detail which is enhanced by environmental storytelling. From the abandoned streets of downtown, to the haunted forest or dessimated seaside boardwalk - these landmarks are gorgeously detailed.
3. Unique enemies!
There's a slew of vampire kind in Redfall. From shrouds, who cover the environment in darkness to disorient the player and can even morph into the ground to avoid taking damage to the Vampire Gods; archaic creatures that will send the Rook after you (and let me tell you, he is big). We're excited to see what else this game has in store for us to shoot and stake our way through!
4. A Multitude of Approaches!
With each mission comes the plan. Redfall gives you the chance to approach each mission in your own way. Will you run-and-gun, or will you sneak through each nook and cranny to get to the enemy beyond? This game allows you to be creative with your abilities and the weapons available. Some of the missions in this game are reminiscent of Dying Light, having to destroy nests to reclaim the neighbourhoods. You can combo with your friends or complete the mission head on!
5. Extensive Skill Tree
You have four characters at your disposal, each with unique skill trees to enhance their abilities. There are many ways to customise the skill trees to match your playstyle. Slay alone or squad up! The characters are as follows:
- Devinder Crousley: A cryptozoologist and aspiring inventor. Armed with weapons of his own creation, he's on a mission to prove himself.
- Layla Ellison: A biomedical engineering student who interned at a research facility, where something went very wrong, leaving her with intense telekinetic abilities.
- Remi De La Rosa: A brilliant combat engineer who has spent her life on the frontlines. WIth the help of her robot cohort, Bribón, she's determined to help rescue Redfall's survivors.
- Jacob Boyer: An ex-military sharpshooter turned private contractor. Strange happenings on Redfall have left Jacob with a mysterious vampiric eye and a spectral raven that's never too far from his side.
